2 large beers are better painkillers than Tylenol, according to science

Having a headache? Instead of searching for your paracetamol tablets around the house, you should search inside the fridge instead – for an ice-cold beer. According to a new study.

Faster and stronger

Researchers at the University of Greenwich conducted a study showing that about two beers can reduce the pain from a headache by up to 25 percent.

“Alcohol can be compared to opioid drugs such as codeine and the effect is more powerful than paracetamol,” said researcher Trevor Thompson, according to The Independent.

One of the most popular painkillers containing paracetamol is, as you might know, Tylenol.

The recommended alcohol content in the blood to get rid of headaches is 0.08 percent.

Not good in the long term

However, the researchers emphasized how harmful alcohol can be. And is definitely not a long-term solution to headaches, although, at times, it could be useful.

However, the researchers hope that the studies will help develop new medicines to treat pain and headaches.

It’s unclear if the alcohol actually affects the brain receptors that perceive pain, or if it only lowers the stress and tension of the person suffering from the pain.
