Mom asks her 3-year-old son why he is taking so long in the bathroom

Kids are just too cute! Although they never sit still, are hard work, and require tons of attention, they are also a constant source of heart-melting cuteness and hysterical laughter.

Young kids, especially toddlers, haven’t had the time to learn all the social filters we adults use. So instead, they say whatever comes up in their head out loud—regardless of the situation.

Kids also follow a different logic, as this fictional, funny story of a three-year-old sitting on a toilet so wonderfully depicts.

A colleague sent it to me the other day, and I thought it was so cute and innocent that I wanted to share it with you—check it out!

Three-year-old Billy is sitting on the toilet trying to go “number two.” He has a small comic book to keep himself busy in the meanwhile. But every ten seconds or so, he puts down the book, grabs the toilet seat with one hand, and hits himself on top of the head with the other hand.

Taking too long in the bathroom

Knowing that Billy has just started going to the toilet on his own, his mother gets a little nervous that he’s taking so long in the bathroom.

A few minutes go by, and she knocks anxiously on the door.

“Billy, are you all right? You’ve been in there for a while…”

Billy answers:

“I’m fine, mommy… I just haven’t gone ‘doody’ yet.”

“Why are you hitting yourself on the head?”

The mother is still worried and gets inside the bathroom.

Her son is sitting quietly on the toilet with his book, which he then puts down, and proceeds to slap himself on top of the head.

“Ok, you can stay here a few more minutes. But, Billy, why are you hitting yourself on the head?”

Then Billy answers as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“Works for ketchup!”
