Men who often do the dishes are happier and have more sex, according to science

In any home or family, adults usually have a chore they prefer to be in charge of. It can be, for example, the laundry for the woman or the cooking for the man.

Usually, the one who takes care of the dishes is the woman, but the fact is that both can benefit if the man takes charge of the dishwasher more often.

Men who clean the dishes often at home have more sex and are happier, according to a New York Post study.

In the past, there wasn’t much discussion at home about who was in charge of cleaning the dishes, women stayed at home to clean and take care of the kids while men provided the money.

Today, is a much more equal picture, thankfully. And both men and women do their share of the chores. But apparently, it’s good for men to take over even more home duties, according to a new study.

More washing – more sex

According to a study published in the Journal of Marriage and Family, researchers discovered that couples who shared washing the dishes equally had more sex than the ones where the woman operated the dishwasher most of the time.

The results of the study revealed that a “sharing” couple had 50% more sex in a month.

“Today, equality is very important in relationships,” said Amanda Miller to the New York Post. She’s a sociology professor at the University of Indianapolis and co-author of the study.

Sex life increased with age

The study, which collected data from couples from the mid-80s to 2006. Revealed that in the homes where the woman always took care of the dishes, the sex life gradually decreased as the years went on.

Couples that handled the dishes evenly, however, showed an increase in their sex life.

“While we can’t prove why yet, we can say that when it comes to chores, equal is sexy” Amanda Miller told the New York Post.
