BMW drivers are the worst, according to a new study

A BMW is the dream car for many people. It’s a brand that exudes luxury, safety, and awareness. But according to a new survey, people in the U.S. think that BMW drivers are also the rudest in the whole country, reports Motor1.

Which car you drive has always been a conversation piece. Having a nice car says a lot about the driver, as other road users constantly judge you depending on your vehicle.

And now American people have had their say about which car brand hosts the worst drivers.

BMW owners are the worst in the country

Insurify, a car insurance comparison website, compared over 2.5 million insurance applications from its database to determine the worst drivers based on information such as past accidents and moving violations while also linking it to the make and model of their cars.

The research focused on violations that showcase rude behavior on the road, such as failure to yield, failure to stop, passing where prohibited, tailgating, hit-and-runs, etc.

The Top 10 Rudest Drivers in America are:

  1. BMW 4 Series
  2. BMW 7 Series
  3. Audi
  4. Subaru WRX
  5. Toyota Celica
  6. Acura TLX
  7. Acura ILX
  8. Hyundai Veloster
  9. Honda Element
  10. Audi A4

A lot of things differ significantly between the cars on this list, including the price. However, one thing is prevalent; rude drivers tend to prefer sports cars.

Perhaps the extra horsepower gives these drivers a dangerous sense of entitlement on the roads — conversely, aggressive drivers may seek out cars with more powerful engines.

For gender, another study concluded that men are 10 percent more likely to get caught speeding – even though they consider themselves to be significantly more skilled drivers than women.

How rude are American drivers?

Across all car brands and models, 23.1 in every 1,000 drivers have one or more citations for a driving infraction categorized as “rude.”

For comparison’s sake, BMW drivers cited for rude behavior have an average of 56 (or more) out of 1,000.
